Drip Irrigation or microirrigation as it is sometimes called, is an irrigation process designed for water conservation.  The drip irrigation process is required in certain cities and counties due to water shortages.  A drip irrigation system operates with the use of emitters which are punctured through drip tubing which can either be laid on top of the ground, or buried underneath the soil or bark mulch for cosmetic reasons.  Widely popular in northern states and increasing in popularity in the southern region of  the United States.  Drip irrigation systems are easy to install and run for extended periods of time through an irrigation controller or timer as the watering process is slow.  This slow drip watering technique allows the water to soak into the soil providing a deeper watering than other conventional methods of irrigation without evaporation from the sun.
