Backflow preventers are available in several different models and styles from various manufacturers. A sprinkler system backflow device operates by closing off once the flow of water to an irrigation system has ceased whether by a spring loaded poppet such as installed in Pressure Vacuum Breakers, a series of redundant check valves as the Double Check Valve offers, or through a series of inline check valves and relief valves such as on a Reduced Pressure Assemblies. Local ordinances will determine what type of backflow preventer your home or business will require to stay within code. Please check local ordinances prior to purchasing a backflow preventer.
